The Heart of God Through Jesus

Look closely at what Francis Frangipane, the author of the book Holiness, Truth, and the Presence of God, said:

“There are so many things to occupy our minds; so many books, so many examples, so many good teachings that deserve our attention, that say, ‘Here is a truth.’  But, as I have been serving the Lord these past years, He has led me to seek for two things and two things only; to know the heart of God in Christ and to know my own heart in Christ’s light.”

With this in mind let’s look at our Bible to discover the heart of God our Father in Christ.

God’s Everlasting Love

“God so loved the world.”  John 3:16

God didn’t just love Israel.  He didn’t just love those who loved Him.  He loved and continues to love the whole world!  In the Bible the word “world” is often used to describe the wickedness of mankind.  This is significant to know the heart of God.  His love is everlasting, it is real, it is unconditional.  And He loves everything He creates. He does not condemn the sinner but only the hypocrite.  He doesn’t hate the sinner but loves him or her.  He hates sin and not the sinner!  He sent His Son Jesus into the world to save it and not condemn it!  Oh how important this is to understand if we want to know God’s heart.

Jesus was willing to become the sacrifice for sin.  He was willing to be the propitiation or payment for our sins.  By His blood He satisfied the wrath of God so that God the Father could forgive our sins.  God in His love sent Jesus His Son to satisfy His holy anger against the sin of the world in the hearts of mankind.  This too is important in understanding the heart of Jesus.

How does this apply to us?  How must it affect our heart?  Well, we too must love the sinner without prejudice.  We too must love the world regardless of skin color, religious belief, location, and language.  Jesus said to love our enemies.  We too must love those who hate us.  We must not love only those who love us, but love those who at times are difficult to love.  We must be grateful for the blood shed on Calvary to appease God’s wrath towards our sins.  Such great things we can learn by looking at the heart of God in Christ Jesus.
